SUMMARY:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Bilingual Safety Intern to join our Safety team at Oklahoma Steel & Wire. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with fluency in both English and Spanish to gain hands-on experience in workplace safety and compliance. The ideal candidate will assist in supporting safety initiatives across the company, ensuring clear communication and effective safety practices for a diverse workforce. This position will involve working closely with our safety team to assist with safety inspections, incident reporting, training sessions, and ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations.

What we are looking for: 

Someone who can set their own pace, work in a team environment, and build productive relationships by solving problems. Experience in manufacturing or steel industry is a plus, but we are willing to train someone with relatable skills. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Assist with safety inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with safety protocols
  • Support the development and delivery of bilingual safety training materials
  • Help translate safety documents, manuals, and signage to ensure accessibility for all employees
  • Participate in safety meetings and assist in communicating key safety information in both languages
  • Help investigate incidents and assist with reporting, ensuring documentation is completed accurately in both languages
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations
  • Support the creation and maintenance of safety documentation and records
  • Assist with the implementation of safety programs to promote a safe and healthy workplace
  • Collaborate with team members to identify hazards and recommend improvements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly to diverse teams
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Strong interest in safety regulations, risk management, and compliance
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Previous experience in safety or bilingual roles is a plus, but not required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma preferred, and related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and be willing and able to operate a motor vehicle and pass a company drug screen.
