Galvanizing Helper

A Galvanizing Helper sets up wire line producing spools and carriers of galvanized wire of specified type and length. Some daily functions of a Galvanizing Helper are listed below. 


  • Inspects work-in-process wire prior to loading machine for quality and defects.
  • Positions coils of metal wire on feed spindle and threads it through pulleys.
  • Welds wire ends with butt-welder repeatedly.
  • Grinds wire welds repeatedly with metal pliers.
  • Operates forklift to move carriers of wire or spools around. 
  • Shovels hardened zinc skimming's from the furnace to a bucket.
  • Dross used zinc and replaces with new zinc.
  • Operates machinery used in the production process.
  • Works with Sheep's wool to paint wire smooth
  • Pumps acid in and spent acid out.
  • Examines products to verify conformance to quality standards. 
  • Observes equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected, and notify adjustor or dept. foreman. 
  • Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists.
  • Documents daily production and turn in to dept. foreman. 
  • Mark or tag identification on product accurately.
  • Utilize forklift to move materials as needed. 
  • Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain equipment.
